Heavenly Eyes
You've always been my angel
Standing next to me
Warding off the demons
The ones I can not see
Guiding me to heaven
Even as we walked through hell
Teaching me to fly
Even as I fell
Chorus:
I know you are my angel
So let me be your gentle breeze
You'll be my warm summer day
I'll be the sunlight on the leaves
And if you'll be my angel
I'll sing you sweet, sweet lullabies
So sleep in your wings so tenderly
As the moon shines on your heavenly eyes
You've always been my angel
Even when I did not know
When I could not feel your warm embrace
Or bask in your ebon glow
And when you finally took my hand
You really moved me so
You lifted me so high
There was no place we could not go
Chorus
You've always been my angel
A lady through and through
I never dreamed a woman
Could be so pure and true
And I could never love another
Oh my angel come to me
Show me just how beautiful
This simple life can be

Parsonage Lane
(On September 3, 2001 I flew from Boston to Atlanta and experienced the most amazing, beautiful flight. The clouds looked so heavenly and peaceful. I wrote this song on September 10, 2001.)
Flying out of Boston
Lifting off the ground
On a highway paved with clouds
Where do they go
Wind around tall white castles
Valleys long and vast
They seem to go on forever
Today
I'll stay here awhile
I've come home again
Friends and laughter
Down Parsonage Lane
Turn around and linger
September is here
The moonlight on the island
The sound of your guitar
Cascading in rivers
Voices I know
Reach me so gently
Open my heart
I'll stay here awhile
I've come home again
Friends and laughter
Down Parsonage Lane
4 am on Plum Island
Singing to the dawn
We walk towards the water
Through the heavy sand
But I know that I must soon go
Wander among the clouds
Where the roads go on forever
They always take me home
I'll stay here awhile
I've come home again
Friends and laughter
Down Parsonage Lane

Master of the Ring
Dragons in waiting don't come around cities
The king under the mountain don't live under the street
I want to walk in the forests of Fangorn
I want to walk in Durin's caves
I wish I had the great lady's favor
I wish I could ride on a horse named Bill
Long is the road but all roads lead to somewhere
Sometime your home can be far away
Chorus:
Roads go ever on, roads go ever on
Roads go ever on, roads go ever on
He thought he could wield the great ring of power
Defeat the darkness, freedom bring
He would save his city, free his people
Soon they would know another dark lord
She wanted to ride on a great white stallion
She wanted the honor and glory of war
She rode into battle, death in her eyes
She fell on the field, a sword in her side
Chorus
The lord of the rings alone in his tower
Planted fear in the hearts of men
A mighty wizard stripped of his power
Crawled like a beggar down lonely roads
And in the end the ringbearer's burden
Found a home on his tiny hand
And in the end a miserable creature
Did the most noble deed of all

September Bride I'll meet you across the water
I'll draw the horses through the waves
I'm coming over to find you
You're somewhere on the other side
No storms are brewing
No darkness hanging in the sky
Just the cool clear water
Come be my September bride.
I'll bring you bread and roses
I'll bring you sunshine in the rain
And when the sun is sleeping
I'll take you on a moonlit ride
And when you're finally with me
I'll know your love is true
Be my harvest girl
Come be my September bride
The leaves may turn to red and brown
As Autumn dons her golden crown
But she would be the first to say
That you grow prettier every day
So come to me gently child
October's drawing nigh
Light the candle by your head
Come and lay down by my side
Walk me to your garden
In the early morning dew
While the sun and the moon dance
Come be my September bride

Wendy Wendy, I want to fly away forever
Spiral through the clouds
That run like rivers across the sky
Wendy, are you here beside me
Enlighten me
Wendy, cover me I'm freezing
I see my shadow flying
On the ground so far below
Wendy, are you here
What's wrong with me
Why can't I see
Chorus:
Flying to never never land
Trying to make you understand
While the world sticks its head into the sand
I'm flying to never never land
Wendy, the world it seems so lonely
If nobody is listening then are we really here
Wendy, are there any dreams for me
A place to be
Wendy, I grow tired and I'm falling
Perhaps the wind will carry me
Across the swirling sea
Wendy, I just want to fly away
No price to pay
Chorus
Walk the plank and you will see
You can sail away with me
Let your world come to an end
And once more we shall begin

Boomerang Love
I miss that part of you
That knows that part of me
Nobody else can see
When I sit and talk with you
I know that I can be
Completely here, you and me
It's no big mystery
Why they still fail to see
How I've touched you deep inside
You've got to let the power of love
Know what you're thinking of
You got to let yourself enjoy the ride
Chorus:
How can you know that you are happy
If you've never been sad
If you never get lost
How can you ever be found
All the love you give away
It will come back around
Well I just had to get away
So I flew across the Hudson River
Just to see what I might find
Every street seemed strange to me
But they all seemed familiar
I just let the pictures fill my mind
Then I began to realize
How I missed your soft brown eyes
The little curve on your back
The way you laugh and smile at me
The way you close your eyes and see
All the colors hidden in the black
Chorus
I miss that part of you
That knows that part of me
That nobody else can see

If the World Should End When it all comes down
I want to be with you
When the world stops spinning
I want to be with you
Let the angry horses furrow their brows
Cerberus can let loose his growls
We'll walk to the end of what time allows
As long as I can be with you
When night and day become one
I want to be with you
When the earth engulfs the sun
I want to be with you
Let the torrid oceans crash into the shore
Thanatos himself can knock on my door
We may be seen on this earth no more
As long as I can be with you
With you, through eternity
With you, when all things cease to be
When Jerusalem falls
I want to be with you
When the sky explodes
I want to be with you
Let October come after May
The sun can set in the middle of the day
The lost boys can all come home today
As long as I can be with you
As long as I can be with you
As long as I can be with you

Real World Slip out of this hazy darkness
Frozen images fall onto your roof and walls
No living organisms
Just faces stolen from this world and beyond
You say it's got to be better
But everyday you gaze into a perfect paradise
Nothing you see is real
Just voices that tell you how to think
And how to feel.
Chorus:
But the air that you breathe
Is the same air they breathed 1000 years ago
And the water rolling on the shore
Came all the way from China
When the sun goes down slow
And the moon is aglow
There's a magic in the air
So go outside, take your baby on a ride
Cause you know life is for livin'
Life is for livin'
Walk away from the walls that surround you
Cause you know they will crumble and they will fall
But you are indestructible
Your spirit will soar and your heart will fly
So why do you look for an answer
From voices on the TV and the radio
And you pray for a world after
But what about the world that you're livin' right now
Chorus
So if the sun don't shine
Don't you fret, don't you whine
Don't you let it bring you down
Cause it's part of the ocean
Of the human emotion
That's always spinnin' round
So know how you feel
Know if it's real
Or just some fantasy
Ain't no use in waitin'
Go on and start creatin'
A real world for you and me
A real world for you and me

Carolina
(for James Taylor)
Chorus: Take me home to Carolina
Forests wrapped around the sky
Mountain shadows fill the highway
Carolina makes me feel alright
Half an hour too late
The sun came out today
Walk down city streets
Send my love your way
Chorus
Driving down the road
You fade into the foggy sky
Lost inside my dreams
Close my eyes and heave a sigh
Chorus
Long ago and far away
I walked with you where dragons lay
Sleeping in their caves
Watching over all their gold
The world can seem so cold
And I'm growing old
Take me home to Carolina
Carolina take me home
Well it sure feels good to be home in Carolina
And I know just where to go now
Don't worry about me anymore
I'm walking through that sunlit door
And soon I will be home in Carolina
Getting high in Carolina (Home to Carolina)
Carolina makes me feel all right (Carolina take me home)
Getting high in Carolina (Home to Carolina)
Carolina makes me feel all right (Carolina take me home)
Take me home to Carolina
Take me home to Carolina
Take me home to Carolina

Broken Candles Tonight the sky is falling
The stars are open very wide
Suddenly you hear a voice a callin'
Telling you you just got to step outside
There a silver lady greets you
With amethysts and moonbeams in her eyes
She takes you on a magic journey
You feel your heart begin to rise
Chorus:
Fifteen million reasons
I would love you through the changing seasons
Summer turning quick to winter
April, May, July, October
I would light your broken candles
Let them melt onto the ground
There my heart lay for so long
Till you touched me with your song
The night it opens like a window
You climb outside but she is gone
You look around you cannot find her
The air grows cold, the night goes on
Then the stars they make a ladder
You climb up to the highest step
There she sits in lace and satin
And your heart keeps rising up
Chorus

Accidental Angel Saw an angel there in a lazy café
Sitting at a table by the bar
She drank her soda with a straw
And I thought she looked over at me
She was an accidental angel
In the way she held her eyes
And when she spoke she hardly moved at all
But she moved me just the same
Saw an angel there at her table all alone
Waving her fingers through dark hair
And if she was an angel well it wasn't her fault at all
It's just the way she was made
A vessel from the heart of Gabriel
Chorus:
And I should have gone over to say hello
But I wasn't quite sure how to talk to an angel
And if she happened to look my way
Well I'd never really looked into the eyes of an angel
Saw an angel there upon the threshold of the world
An exquisite kind of girl
And in her eyes she held the key to everything that is
And everything that was and will be
And if you filtered out the conversation
You could hear the silent sea
For she brought the sun down from the heavens
Just to calm the violent storms in my heart
Chorus
City crazy city flashing all it's lights at me
They keep moving in a steady line
So I had to leave behind this angel but I never really left
I mean I've got to get back there
She was an accidental angel
In the way she held her eyes
A vessel from the heart of Gabriel

Moonbeams
Why does the moon glow so bright
Lighting up the deep indigo sky
When my eyes have closed
And I have lain down to rest
Why does the moonlight call
When I am lost inside my dreams
Lulling all the world to sleep
How the moonbeams fall
Chorus:
Why do I feel your hands (when they can not touch me now)
Why do see your eyes (when they cannot gaze at me)
Why do I listen to your voice (when I cannot hear you speak)
Why does the moon light up the sky
When I am asleep
Why does the fire burn me so
Glowing embers in my soul
When I am standing in the stream
And the cold water chills my toes
Why do I slip and fall
When my heart surely knows the way
Though I know not where I go
I'm lost in the mystery of it all
Chorus
Why do you shine so bright
Why do you shine so bright
Why do I hear you callin'
When I can't hear you at all
My how the moonbeams fall,
My how the moonbeams fall,
My how the moonbeams fall

Scarlet
Looking through eyes dressed in scarlet
Your shimmering hair hangs so low
Words spoken softer than sunlight on the leaves
Me wanting to hear you whisper them lightly
Velveteen rabbits and moonbeams
Come when you lay down your head
While you are sleeping they kiss you and tell you
That you are the reason the sun lights the sky
Chorus:
The candles in your eyes they burn so brightly
All the stars in the sky seem to fade
And the morning she waits for you to close your eyes
You close your eyes till the morning
The morning she sees how you shine
She sees how you shine
Shadows they dance in the forest
They hope they will hear you walk by
When they see you they smile, they tremble
For they are just shadows but your feet they are silent
Wading through rivers of sunlight
Riding the wind with your smile
For the wind he has traveled the mountains, the valleys
And he knows your name as he whispers to me
Chorus
Walking through lavender fields
Wanting to find your way home
Stepping on leaves that have tasted the dewdrops
That sparkle and gleam in the light that surrounds you
Pantomime birds on the skyline
Call you and say it's okay
For though you walk on the dirt, on the ground
I can see that you come from some place so far away
Chorus
|
Sailing Tug my hand, nudge my head
Squeeze me with your fingers
Break my fast, uncork the wine
Knock my woes asunder
Soothe my skin, come here again
Send my thoughts to wonder
Watch my dreams come tumbling out
See them shine and thunder
Chorus: I'd sail anywhere you know
Just take my hands and don't let go
Shadows shifting in the sea
But you won't let them swallow me
You are a pilgrim in my soul
My heart you guide, the strings you pull
Breaking for this promised land
I'd sail the world in your hands
Unlock the door, be free once more
Feel the changing seasons
Walk outside, take a ride
Forget your rhyme and reason
Chorus
Sailing, sailing in the clear October sky
Sailing, sailing
I'd sail anywhere you know
Just take my hand and don't let go
Ohhhh, I'd sail the world in your hands
